Last week I added words of advice from Michael Grose, well -known parenting educator on how to help our children develop resilience. A copy of the full article is displayed on the community noticeboard in the school grounds and hard copies may be collected from the front office for those interested. These are the next three in Michael Grose’s list of actions that reduce children’s resilience. 5. Letting kids give in too easily – instead encourage kids to complete what they have started even if the results aren’t perfect 6. Neglecting to develop independence – Start early and promote a broad skill set so children can look after themselves if you are not around. 7. Rescuing kids from challenging situations – There are many times kids are put in situations outside their comfort zones. For instance, giving a talk, singing at the school concert or going on a school camp may be challenges for some kids. They are all situations that kids usually cope with so show your confidence in them and skill them up rather than opt for avoidance.
