Last week, I seriously considered just creating a new email - TopicsExpress

Last week, I seriously considered just creating a new email address and redirecting my current one to /dev/null. I already use filters to auto-sort emails into sets of folders grouped by type of contact (family, employees, retailers, vendors, and manufacturers). Those folders are numbered by priority so I can easily identify where to start my day. Family first, staff second, etc. I had already turned off all email notifications, unsubscribed from email lists, left every group, and redirected certain things to my staff. In spite of becoming a digital recluse, the volume of email was still nearly unmanageable. Last week, I created a new filter that helped me add some essential order. This filter went through my entire Inbox and if an email was from someone who wasnt in my contacts, it turned the subject of the email light grey. That simple change made all emails from people already in my contacts (they get first priority) easy to see. Then I went through and visually filtered what was left. I realized that I was habitually hitting the delete button on certain things, so I created filters to auto delete those emails. If I usually forward an email to someone (like invoices go to accounting), I created a filter to forward and delete. With junk so easy to see, I went through over 21,000 messages in an afternoon. Im down to about 1200 unread messages. Theres hope. #bigstick #worthit #gamechanger #ceomom
