Last week I took Kobe to have his eye rechecked and the vet felt - TopicsExpress

Last week I took Kobe to have his eye rechecked and the vet felt some enlarged lymph nodes on his neck and lower body so he did a biopsies and sent it to the lab. The result came back today and Kobe has lymphoma. Cancer of the lymph nodes. We have 2 options, chemotherapy or just give him prednisone to make him comfortable for another 3 months or so. As for the chemo, the cancer attacked his bone marrows so he is very anemic which would make chemo challenging. Chemo therapy even if it works, would give him a remission of a year the most but that is the best scenario. The vets own dog had lymphoma and the chemo did not work so he only lived another 4 months after diagnosis. Therefore, I decided against chemo and will just opt for the prednisone to make his life as comfortable as possible. He is 13 and I dont want to put him through chemo and suffer at the end of his life. Kobe was my first dog and I got him when he was only 3 months old. A friend had a litter of 4 and gave him to me. I picked him who was the runt and he has been Mommas boy since he was a wee one. He has been with me through many trials and tribulations in my life and has been my constant companion. I dont know how I can cope without my baby boy! 😢
