Last week I travelled to Sydney to particpate in the 6 day certification CORE Myofascial course by George Kousaleos. He is a Harvard University Graaduate and has been a leader in the field of Massage Therapy for the past 30 years. He played an instrumental role in bringing Sports massage to the Olympics in 2000. He currently provides bodywork to the Florida State Universitys elite sportspeople. As well as travelling nationally and internationally presenting seminars on his technique. This was his first visit to Australia. What is CORE Myofascial Therapy?? CORE Myofascial therapy is a client centred therapy utilizing a variety of clinical techniques, treatment protocols ans structural strategies that will help to improve the clients neurosomatic awareness, structural alignment, physical balance and flexibilty, while decreasing chronic pain and movement restrictions. Depending, of course, on the clients age, level of activity and medical / injury history. The primary technique is myofascial spreading following the path of Langers Lines (as oppossed to muscle fibres) which helps to create a lighter, roomier and freer feel to the superficial tissues and major joints. More specific protocols can then be used to influence length and flexibility through the spine, feet, core as well as the cranium and face. A session generally runs for 90 minutes with the first session taking up to 2 hours, including assessment. A special offer for October ONLY!! Initial CORE Myofascial treatment and assessment for $120 usually $140. ( 2 hour appointment) Call 0400488008 to book an appointment
