Last week I was lifting and noticed my strength wasnt where I like - TopicsExpress

Last week I was lifting and noticed my strength wasnt where I like it. I cannot do (currently) things I used to be able to do. Once upon a time this would have felt like a huge failure. Now it sorta feels like... science. Its objective. Its SO MUCH EASIER to tackle these kinds of goals when you can be objective. So heres the information: Ive been lifting less as Ive been hiking more. Im no where near my former max. My body is super awesome at hiking at the moment and not as sure about explosive moves. Ok. So instead of freaking out or analyzing my set back I asked myself, Do I want to change this? I decided, yes. I miss lifting more regularly, and I like it more when I feel like a beast in there. So I wrote myself a training plan and a week in Im quickly seeing large strength gains. My booty already seems pretty happy about it. Im enjoying the challenge. Moral of the story? If you change what you do your results change. The result of months of hiking was finishing a book and feeling really peaceful. Perfect. The result of me busting ass in the weight room again is increased strength and feeling powerful. Rad. This stuff can really be objective. You just have to let go of all the awful stories you tell yourself about it. Thats what makes it so daunting. Me? Im having a life not a weight loss commercial. xo
