Last week, Rescue Hotline received a call from a member of public, reporting a wild boar was trapped by illegal trap along the foot path in a village in Nam Wai, Sai Kung. Rescue team arrived at scene and found the wild boar being in normal body condition with minor scratches on its face and limbs. However, we couldn’t remove the cage as it became aggressive after being frightened. Inspectors then contacted the staff of ‘Wildlife Conservation Department in AFCD’ to scene for further assistance. The wild boar was finally sedated by AFCD vet and was released afterwards. The cage trap was seized and destroyed by AFCD. The SPCA condemns any illegal trapping of stray dogs, wild animals. We urge members of the public to remain alert when walking up hillsides and slopes where visibility of the ground maybe hindered by bushes and tall grass, and report anything suspicious to SPCA 24-hour Hotline 2711-1000.
