Last week, folks from IDA and Animal Rescue and Care Fund (ARCF) - TopicsExpress

Last week, folks from IDA and Animal Rescue and Care Fund (ARCF) started a trap-neuter-return (TNR) project in a small neighborhood in northeast Portland, Oregon. On Monday, the team of IDA’s Eric Phelps and ARCF volunteer Courtney Argo trapped 13 cats. On Tuesday, another 4 were captured. They had estimated 20-25 cats in the neighborhood and were right on target, with another 5-7 still to trap. Eric and Courtney will be back out trapping this upcoming Wednesday trying for the few remaining unsterilized cats. This project started with one caregiver who was concerned about being overrun by kittens, but because several caregivers were discovered in different parts of the neighborhood, it was decided to take on the whole neighborhood as project. These cats are well-loved, cared for, and are a part of the community - and they’ll all be better feline citizens once they’re back from the spay/neuter clinic. IDA is grateful to ARCF for helping with volunteers and transportation and to Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon for providing all the surgeries, vaccinations, and vet care through their donation-based clinic. This video is of the last group of four cats being release back to their home after recovery from surgery on Thursday, April 24.
