Last week the North Richmond Farm Apprentices learned about agriculture from a historical perspective in Richmond and North Richmond. The dairy farms in Alvarado park, the farms and orchards that are now parks. Today they learned about the rich cultural and community organizing history of Richmond and North Richmond. The Black Panther movement in Richmond, the race riots at Richmond High, the music scene in North Richmond, as well as, the downturn of North Richmond in the 1970s. Because we should not move forward without learning from the past. Recognizing and telling the stories of those who were here before us.
