Last week the Social Security Administration published a new ruling that disability claims based solely on mental impairments cannot be denied on the basis that claimants can adjust to different types of work without the consultation of a Vocational Expert. This rule is binding in 7 U.S. States—those covered by The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Acquiescence Rulings like this are extremely rare—only 2 others have been made in the past 8 years.
