Last week we had planned to take off on a 5 day, 110 kilometer (65 mile) hike here in Spain. Sadly, the weather forecast looked less than idea so instead of trudging through the rain we elected to spend our time completely disconnected here at our casa in our tiny village. We did however take advantage of the breaks in the rain to enjoy some fantastic hiking in the hills. Our favorite hike is about 15km long and take you literally through the hills. It wanders through an old mining area and often you find yourself walking through tunnels along old train tracks. As we walked, completely disconnected from the world it was a chance to talk without distraction and the reconnect in a way that we find impossible anywhere else. We chatted about our plans for the future, meals we wanted to cook, discussed the age of the mines (at least our ideas), as well as movies wed watched together. We reminded ourselves why walking is such a part of our lives and how much it provides us both. We feel more grounded after each hike, and it is even better when we can be treated to beautiful views. Next week well be talking more on the podcast about our digital detox, but for now here are a few pics from our now favorite walk in the area.
