Last weekend, we were at As-suffas annual conference in Birmingham. The conference was about the end of times. The topic allocated to me was In the court of Allah While studying about the day of judgement and about our standing in the court of Allah, I came across some nice narrations which I would like to share with you. On the day of qiyamah, the First reckoning will be of Salah, then of Zakah, Fasting, Haj and other Forms of worship. If Salah is ok, other aspects will be easy too. If a person is caught up in Salah, the other matters will become difficult as well. First judgement will be regarding blood, then regarding wealth and honour etc. The murdered will drag the murderer in front of Allah and plead Ask him Why did he kill me? First question in connection with the favours of Allah, will be regarding good health: Did we not give you a healthy body and did we not quench your thirst with chilled drinks? One Hadith says A persons feet will not move from their place on the day of qiyamah until he/she answers four questions; Life, how it was spent. Youth, how it was utilised. Wealth, from where it was earned and where it was spent. Knowledge, how much was put in to practice Every word and every action will have to be accounted for. People will be standing during the reckoning. There wont be any couches or chairs to sit on. The accounts will be taken by Allah Himself. For some people that day will be as long as one thousand years, due to the enormity of their accounts. For others it will be lightened, equivalent to the time between Asr and Maghrib. Abdullah Ibn Masud says The lengthiest standing on that day will be for those who were the busiest in talking about Baatil. How many of us are always gossiping? How many are into movies, dramas, and sports? How much time do we waste on these questionable hobbies? We should bear in mind that every word will be either for us or against us. Avoid backbiting, lying, slandering, unnecessary conversation, dreaming about film stars, sport stars and talking about them. As for those who used to be mast (absorbed) in dhikr of Allah, they will have their questioning lightened upon them. We have to go through a few stages on that critical day. 1, Our files will be presented to us. And we will be told Read your book 2, Questions will be asked. Due rights will be given. Justice will be established. The currency on that day will be good deeds, which will be given as repayments. 3, Deeds will be weighed. The weightiest deed to be placed in the scales will be good manners. 4, Certificates will be handed out. Pass certificates will be received by the right hands, failed ones by the left hands. 5, Crossing the bridge. Jahannam will be brought closer. It will have surrounded the place of resurrection. In order to get to Jannah we will have to cross the bridge. Some peoples sins will push them down, while others good deeds will carry them forth. One Hadith says Trust and kinship will stand on either sides of the bridge. They will help those who were trustworthy and who had joined the kinship. Those who had violated them will be thrust into jahannam. May Allah make the standing on that day easy for us.
