Last weeks Open Mic Night at the Arts Center ---------------------Next Open Mic Night Oct. 3rd.---------------------- The performing arts association at the Art Center started their weekly open mic and performing arts show on Thursday, September 25 at the Arts Center. The show had 10 acts that included 13 local performers. In the spirit of support for all the performing arts, Taylor Hoch kicked off the show with the opening soliloquy from Shakespeares Richard III. Jay Jernigan then joined Taylor on the stage and they performed several of Taylors original musical compositions. After that, Drew Tucker and Ron Hackett played a jazz duet and Jay returned to the stage to join them for a jazz jam on Gershwins Ive Got Rhythm. Also performing that night were singer/songwriter Len Bullard, keyboardist and singer Sarah Weeks, Old Nick and the Gypsies (Sarah, Kameron Jones, and Josh Passon), singer/songwriter Greg Mitchell, violinist Caitlin Varkin, and guitarist and vocalists Gary Tipper, Robert Foster, and Rose Pyatt. This weekly event is free to all Arts Center members. Non-members are asked to make a $2 donation to help cover the cost of the facility. Coffee and soft drinks will be available for a small fee to cover our costs, and you can bring your own refreshments. Smoking is not allowed in the building. FMI: Please contact Ron Hackett at Ron@RonHackettMusic prior to the event or register online at flc-artscenter. ---------------------Next Open Mic Night Oct. 3rd.----------------------
