Last year Nick Plewniak brought what I imagine is safe to say the most highly modified S10 out to play on Hot Rod Drag Week. Yesterday he stopped by Holley for a bit of tuning help on his new setup for 2014! Nicks 2013 set-up consisted of twin 76 mm turbochargers and a blow through 1150 dominator carb on a 518 big block Chevy engine. This year he has stepped up his game with 82 mm twins from Borg Warner with Tial blow off valves and waste gates. Displacement remains at 580 c.i. in the BBC engine. Air, birds (and small children if youre not careful) are sucked through 5 intakes and enters into the engine via Holleys 105 mm throttle body which bolts to a fabricated 4500 flange outfitted to a Holley MPFI manifold. A Holley water methanol injection setup is installed on the truck as well for reduced intake air temps! The exhaust consists of some gnarly 2 primaries and sends spent exhaust gases through 4 tubes. All of the ignition/boost control and tuning responsibilities are managed by Holley DIS coils and Holley Dominator EFI. Plumbing for all of the necessary fluid transfer on an engine of this type is trusted to Earls Performance Products. Nick takes note of operating temperatures and other useful readouts on Holleys EFI touchscreen. In case you were wondering, all of these parts combine for a healthy 1,400-1,500 wheel horsepower on pump gas! Good luck to Nick this year as Drag Week is almost upon us!-Blane
