Last year the ECC committee discussed the need and decided to affiliate ECC with WestCycle, the WA body for Cycling Australia (CA) and identify ourselves along-side other WA cycling clubs. The reason for this was to address the issue of individual insurance while riding as part of the ECC group rides. Previously we have naïvely thought that “…she’ll be right”. To protect everyone participating in group rides we have decided that all members participating in group rides will require some sort of individual insurance. This can be done through Cycling Australia. If already insured through a Mountain Bike membership or Tri club please check the details to make sure you have coverage for on-road group riding. From the mid Feb, to continue riding with and being part of the ECC club, people will need to have membership and insurance. New riders will require membership and insurance after 3 group rides. As a cycling club, we want to be supportive, inclusive and look after our fellow rider. This is one way of doing that.
