Last year’s winner Melissa Greyling is still going strong and smiling all the way! Not only has her weight and fat percentage decreased significantly, she had a total loss of 31cm around her waist since 1 September 2012. Well done Melissa! Waist circumference is widely accepted as an indicator of potential risk of developing chronic diseases such as heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. According to National Health and Medical Research Council guidelines, a waist measurement of 94 cm or more (for men) or 80 cm or more (for women) is an indicator of increased risk. A loss of 1 cm around the waist can account for a 50% less chance of developing chronic diseases of lifestyle. Melissa lost 31cm!!!! Motivated and aiming to reach her goal weight within 2 years Melissa became a client of Litchi Living Dieticians during June 2012! It soon was evident that this committed 2 do anything in her power to adapt a healthy lifestyle in order to lose weight in the planned time frame. Assisted by Litchi Living Dieticians she began her journey... at first the centimetre loss was slow (for many others this would be disheartening, but for Melissa this served as more motivation) and she focused even more on getting it right. Therefore when the weight loss challenge was launched, Melissa and dietician Lizette Kuhn decided that this might give her that extra push in the right direction, and it did! Not only did Melissa walk away with the title as Litchi Living Weight Loss Champion of 2012, she won a year of free training sessions with personal trainer, Melissa Nolte.
