Late Dr. A. C. Gabriel As Reported In The Deccan Chronicle Newspaper, Hyderabad, India, Dated: 24th January 1945 The remains of Dr. Gabriel were brought to Hyderabad yesterday morning by the Bombay mail and conveyed to his house at Mallapalli. In the afternoon the body was taken to the Roman Catholic Cathedral and after an impressive service was laid to rest in the Narayanguda cemetery. Numerous friends and grateful patients accompanied the cortege. Dr. Gabriel entered the Medical Department 30 years ago after passing from the local medical school with great distinction, taking the first place. He also won the Surgeon Generals Gold Medal at the L.C.P.S. examination, Bombay. From the start of his career he showed remarkable skill in medicine and surgery. After 15 years service he rejoined the Medical School for Assistant Surgeons Diploma which he secured in the first attempt. Both in the district and the city he excelled others in surgery so much that professional jealousy haunted him. He was shunted from place to place and denied legitimate facilities for serving the public. He was even warned more than once not to handle surgical cases. A few months ago circumstances conspired against him and he was about to be shifted to a distant town. He took leave and underwent a course of training in Orthopaedic surgery in order to set up his own clinic. As he had kidney complaint for a long time he submitted himself for an operation in Miraj and the end came suddenly. Dr. Rajannah was with him till the last moments. It is said that he handled several hundred major surgical cases and not a single one failed. With such record of useful service Dr. Gabriel, an Indian Christian, lies buried in cold earth. [sic].
