Late Sunday night, Jan 4, while walking our 165 lb. Alpine Hound, - TopicsExpress

Late Sunday night, Jan 4, while walking our 165 lb. Alpine Hound, Hagrid, I had a bad fall. Somehow, I managed to get my foot wedged under our stone walkway, twisted it very badly and came crashing down. Had Hagrid not been there to grab on to, it would have been nearly impossible to pull myself up. It was very painful dragging myself inside, and hoisting myself upstairs, grabbing onto banisters and railings. Finally, I was able to get myself situated in bed with cell phone, close to a bathroom, where I have been ever since. Home alone, unable to drive or get around the house at all. Local friends, two of whom I have known for 12-20 years, knew of the accident, yet they were too busy to even ask if I was OK. They also knew that I was home alone, while my husband, Andrew Cann is 1600 miles west of here, putting his mother to rest who passed very recently. I remain shocked and extremely disappointed at their total lack of concern. This has tainted any feelings of warmth left for them, I am afraid. Two of our closest friends, or so we thought, live less than 3 miles from us. Yet, yesterday, when the roads were fine, the only friend concerned enough to offer any assistance lives 40 miles east. Fortunately, I now have our pet sitters daughter coming in to bring me food and tea, and to take care of the pets, four times, daily...even early morning and late at night. She and her father are very kind. Even though it costs us $50 a day, at least the pets are taken care of and I will not go hungry or thirsty. Andrew will be home soon, and, thankfully, we have a good security system and a giant guard dog! Our sincere gratitude to Alice of Arlington, VA, and Chas and daughter, Kristin of Ashburn for being TRUE friends! PS ~ We will change our Last Wills and Testaments to reflect those deserving of our gratitude and recognition!
