The problem with corporate banners and billboards welcoming the Popes visit is that for many, it seems self serving. They have budgets to put the Popes face on a banner and add their logo and voila, they are imbued with His holiness and morals. The opposite actually happens. One makes a quick mental contrasts as to how these corporations have treated their employees, busted unions, charged highway robbery utility rates, promoted unhealthy sugar, fostered sleazy celebrity culture, and one easily surmises that these corporations are nowhere near the Popes record and intentions. Corporations by their very capitalist nature are going to be severely at odds with the Popes no-hold barred denunciation of greed, indifference and the suffering they cause each day. The Pope already has his headaches with his own church who seemed to have strayed so far away from their original mission. Corporations do themselves a hokey disservice by feeling one with the Pope. Instead, they should look into their corporate behaviour, culture, and mission and start to get rid of and approximate the Popes intentions in really helping and uplifting the unfortunate peoples of the world.
