Late this afternoon at Synod, Denise Champion launched her book - TopicsExpress

Late this afternoon at Synod, Denise Champion launched her book Yarta Wandatha with co-author, Rosemary Dewerse, and the Moderator, Dr Deidre Palmer. Rosemary shared how the book project began and developed. Denise shared about how the book allowed her to express how God was present and at work in the land before the second people and others came, and to look at cultural stories as expressions of Gods presence and work and to make connections between the stories and Biblical stories, and the peoples experience her experience of Jesus. Denise shared how in the book she was able to be Adnyamathanha and be Christian, and act Adnyamathanha and act as a Christian, to remember, theologise and tell her story and speak in her own language. Deidre said a prayer and invited Denise to pray the Lords Prayer in Adnyamathanha and resay it back into English as she does in the book. The book is $25 and I hope a lot of people buy it and read it, reflect on it, and pray with it. Once its costs are covered the it is hoped the book will provide some income to allow Denise to pursue another of her dreams - to develop a cultural and spiritual healing centre. see Facebook Dean Whittaker added 4 new photos.
