Lately, I have seen and been confronted with individuals that seem to have no ability to tell the truth. They would rather speak a lie than say what they know to be the truth. Going through the Word of God, scripture continually speaks of those that lie, Proverbs 12:22 states, Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight. Proverbs 10:18, He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool. What is a fool? Websters Collegiate Dictionary definition is: a person with little or no judgment, common sense, wisdom, also known as a simpleton, idiot, or imbecile. Pretty strong words, yet, it doesnt seem to deter those that choose to walk in this path. Also in Proverbs 12:19, The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment. The Bible is filled with scriptures coming against liars. Who do we think we are deceiving, when we tell a lie? Surely, we realize that we are not deceiving the Lord, for He knows all things. The problem with telling a falsehood is, you have to remember what youve said, for most times the story never comes out the same. As a child and a young girl, I knew when I had done something wrong, thinking it would be better to lie, than to tell the truth, expecting that I would be saved from punishment, but it always seemed my parents found me out. My punishment was so much greater when the lie was exposed. I constantly talk about being an example of who Christ is in our lives, so, as we remember who we represent, our lives must be a shining light for the Kingdom of God. In Revelation 21:8 the Word of God tells us, But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Scripture tells us that there will be no place in Heaven for those that lie, not even a little white lie. I have heard many a Christian say, God will forgive me for this little lie. Honoring the Lord in all we do, is so important as we travel with the Lord. Our goal should be drawing the lost to the Kingdom of God, but if our lives are filled with deception and lies, we cannot draw those to the Father. Recently, I heard someone say, They sure dont act like a Christian. Remember, if we belong to Him, let us honor Him, in all we say and do. Proverbs 6:16-19, in Gods Word tells us, These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. The second one mentioned is a lying tongue, so the next time you think about telling a lie, think about who you are bringing shame and reproach to...
