Latest BBC update: It seems The Phil Silvers Show is low down BBC4s pecking order and they currently have no plans to acquire the show for broadcast. They have said there might be a glimmer of hope for the 60th anniversary in 2015 but in our opinion chances look slim... :( Hi Steve and Mick: The decision to repeat the old series on BBC4 rests with BBC4. They have no immediate plans to repeat and therefore to acquire a new licence for the show. However, there is a possibility nearer the time of the anniversary that repeats may suit the needs of BBC4s schedule. At this moment in time we cannot confirm this nor are we in a position to make any promises or guarantees. As Shane’s email explains, due to the DQF savings which puts pressure on every aspect of the comedy content on the BBC, repeats of old archive shows are not excluded.
