Latest on the #DiplomaticPost: The U.S. Department of State is committed to addressing the fundamental challenge faced by all countries of engaging more women in science, encouraging them to pursue advanced degrees, fellowships and ultimately undertaking successful careers across a broad spectrum of scientific fields. Initiatives have focused on creating networks of women scientists between the U.S. and other countries, including New Zealand. This topic was at the core of last month’s U.S.-New Zealand Joint Commission Meeting on Science and Technology Cooperation (JCM). Dr. Sally Rockey spoke to JCM participants over Skype about the U.S. National Institute for Health’s research on the challenges faced by women and other under-represented groups in Science, Technology, Education, and Math (STEM) careers.
