Latest update on attendance pattern of members of Parliament in one of the African countries: 1. MPs Salary increase session - total attendance: 343 members ( a member requested to be discharged from hospital that day, to attend this all-important session). 2, Tax payers tribunal session- total attendance 4 members (1 member later excused himself& left in the middle of the session). 3. Teachers strike session- total attendance - 26 members 4. Formation of committees for contract reviews session- total attendance - 343 members (It was a rowdy session, with honorable members close to physical combat, when the issue of appointing members of committee was thrown open to the floor of the house). 5. UN Child healthcare, matters arising session - total attendance - 46 members 6. UN disaster relief funds allocation/sharing formula, plenary session- total attendance - 343 members ( 1 aspiring committee member had to cancel attending their childs graduation ceremony, to attend this session) 7, Transport Workers Union strike as a result of incessant hike in fuel prices- total attendance- 32 members 8. Issues of security in the country session- total attendance - 54 members 9. Increase in number of security personnels for MPs session - total attendance- 342 members (1 member was unavoidably absent, but sent an observer), 10, MPs Car loan session - total attendance - 343 members (with representatives from various constituencies in attendance in solidarity with their MPs) 11.
