Latisha and Marcus Brundidge, of 702 Shannon Court in Logans - TopicsExpress

Latisha and Marcus Brundidge, of 702 Shannon Court in Logans Landing (off Del Ray Road), were hit by a storm (possible tornado) with high winds and heavy rain late Sunday afternoon. As Latisha was cooking fish for dinner and her husband Marcus was headed home with the cole slaw, they heard the tornado sirens go off. Within minutes the winds and rain picked up. Latisha told The Upson Post at that point everything turned white. She grabbed her two children, Madison (9) and Luke (6), and ran into the laundry room in the interior of her home. Marcus, who had just gotten home, followed them. The winds blasted through their front windows just as Marcus made it to the safety of the laundry room. They hovered in the laundry room together as the winds blew through their attic. The storms pressure was intense... like big hands closed tightly over my ears, described Marcus. It went by so fast, explained Latisha, that I think thats why the house is still standing. Latisha said they never heard that famous train sound. When they came out of the laundry room they began to survey the damage. The most dramatic seemed to be in Lukes room (see photos below). A tree, like a spear, plowed through Lukes wall stabbing his pillow. Madison told The Post she felt like she was in a dream. Northside Fire Dept., EMA workers and friends from New Life Church all chipped in this evening to help cover holes and ripped out windows and walls. But the Brundidges have been told their house is structurally unsound and they cannot stay there. The American Red Cross has placed them in a hotel this evening. Tomorrow, they will begin the grueling process of saving what they can. Latisha is certain that it is only by the grace of God they are all OK.
