Laura Duncan is our Spotlight on a Mustang this week: Laura grew up in Roanoke Rapids and attended Manning in Elementary school, Chaloner and RRHS, graduating in 2003. With a love of teaching and children Laura headed off to Campbell University to major in Elementary Education. After completing her degree she stayed in Harnett County for a year teaching 4th grade. While she was living away from home, she felt the constant need to return home to Roanoke Rapids. Needless to say she was thrilled when Mr. Kennedy offered her a 4th grade position at Manning Elementary! While teaching 4th grade, she was introduced to her now husband Matt and they were married in 2009. A short while later Laura went back to school attending Chowan University, which allowed her to work during the day and go to school at night. In 2012 Mrs. Duncan graduated with my masters in Elementary Education! Whoop Whoop! After 8 years of teaching she has grown and changed in many ways. She gives all of the credit of her success to her parents and her Christian up bringing and is thankful that God has allowed her to come back home to work and live. One of the best parts about being a teacher to Mrs. Duncan is being able to work with children and see them transform from year to year. In her free time she attends Victory Baptist Church and spends time with family and friends. Additionally, she is busy preparing for the arrival of twins who are scheduled to make their debut in December!
