Laurie Leitch and Brigadier General (ret.) Loree Sutton are in the process of putting together a book about the war-related tattoos of OEF/OIF active military and veterans. The book is intended to be a way to inform the public about the war experience through image and story. If you have a tattoo that reflects your experience in Iraq or Afghanistan and are willing to write a brief description of why you got the tattoo and its significance to you, please email me for name submission and further details! Thank you Suggestions for Writing for War and Ink The writing goes hand in hand with the Tattoo photos (each participating person will have 2 pages in the book…1 for the tattoo(s) and 1 for the writing) and together they are intended to provide an understanding of the war experience through word and image. You can write up to 1 page and can include things like: · Why you decided to get a tattoo(s)…including experiences enlisting and downrange · How you chose the one(s) you chose · What the meaning of having them is to you · Anything you think would help people understand the experience of volunteering for war Most likely once you send your writing and there will be suggested edits, some questions you could respond to in your writing, etc. These suggestions will not be a criticism but rather an effort to have the writing best reflect what you want to say.
