Leadership is so important, whether your kids have 2 legs or 4. Without proper guidance, our furbabies tend to do what they want (and the skin babies too), and that isnt always what we want. Dont get mad at them though. Its your fault, not theirs. Our canine companions are ANIMALS (and not your human children that came out with fur, 2 extra legs and a butt appendage), and while we may think they are super smart, human-like, genius even, they cant teach themselves. They need US to set a good example and guide them as they travel thru the domesticated life we have forced them into. The only (three) dogs that have come back to our fold were not successful because of # 4 - too much freedom too quickly and a lack of boundaries and structure (but lots of love). The dogs were rushed into their new life and they needed more time to adjust. I also particularly like numbers 7 & 8 ... Our dogs tolerate SO MUCH from us, but that doesnt mean they like it.
