Leading local scorer and rebounder June Mar Fajardo leads Best Player of the Conference race San Miguel Beer’s June Mar Fajardo dominated the rest of the local field in the PLDT Home Telpad Governors’ Cup to lead the Best Player of the Conference race after the elimination round of the season-ending tournament. The 6-foot-10 Cebuano, who also won BPC honors in the Philippine Cup, led the PBA in scoring (21.9 points) and rebounding (16.0 rebounds) to dominate the stats race with 43.8 average statistical points. Air 21 veteran center Asi Taulava was a far second for posting average SPs of 37.9 after norming 18.1 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. Meralco’s Cliff Hodge was a surprise third with 34.6 SPs from 18.2 points and 9.6 rebounds, while Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s Greg Slaughter was fourth with 34.0 SPs on 15. 1 points and 11.7 rebounds. Talk ‘N Text forward Ranidel De Ocampo rounded out the top five with 32.9 SPs on 16.9 points and 7.7 rebounds. Commissioner’s Cup BPC Jayson Castro came in sixth (30.3 SPs), while GlobalPort’s Alex Cabagnot (29.4 SPs), San Miguel Beer’s Arwind Santos (25.2 SPs), Alaska’s JVee Casio (24.0 SPs), and San Mig Coffee’s Peter June Simon (23.8 SPs) rounded out the top ten.
