Learning (out of necessity) to work on my own vehicle and saving a B***LOAD of money. Was quoted $99.00 per axle (each wheel) not including new rotors on the front (which I needed, as the originals were badly warped). The quoting entity stated new rotors were nearly as cheap as having the originals machined. New rotors were quoted @ $65.00 each for stock (original equipment). So, what....Nearly $600.00 for new rotors, pads, and shoes for the rear-drums..(discs only on front of the truck). So. . . New, aftermarket better quality (drilled and slotted) rotors for the front brakes, $70.00 each. Better quality pads, $40.00. Rear shoes, stock quality (as the front brakes do 70% of the actual stopping) $17.00 a set. I bought a shop manual, and had as ready-reference YouTube tutorials for the job. Ive only done the front brakes / rotors so far, but the time investment was about 3.5 hours. $220.00 and 3.5 hours versus $600.00... No brainer. Truck stops smooth as a babys butt, and straight as an arrow. Will stop on a dime and give me about eight-cents change. AND I know the job was done right. I took my time, double-checked my work. Once the Mystique was gone.... I saved myself $380.00, AND upgraded my brakes. WIN-WIN !
