Lecturers in Chinese, Notre Dame, IN The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures invites applications for 2 full-time lecturer positions in Chinese language beginning August 2014. One position is a regular lecturer line, the other is a visiting line. We are seeking highly skilled language instructors with native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English; at least an M.A. degree in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, linguistics, second language acquisition, or related field; and demonstrated success teaching Chinese at the college/university level in the US. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester (first year through advanced Chinese), active programmatic involvement, and close collaboration with the language program coordinator, Center for the Study of Languages and Cultures, Office of International Studies, and our faculty to advance Chinese language study and build a rigorous and cohesive Chinese language and culture program. This appointment offers excellent benefits and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applications should include a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, teaching portfolio (such as course descriptions, sample syllabi, teaching evaluations, video clip of classroom teaching), statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin November 8th, 2013, and continue until the position is filled. Preliminary interviews will be scheduled at the ACTFL/CLTA conference, November 22nd-24th; for selected applicants who are not attending the conference, video interviews will be scheduled in December.
