Left cheek, left cheek! Theres a longstanding joke amongst many of my clients - they say to each other did Georgie say your arse doesnt fire properly? In at least 50% of people that I see with back, knee, hip or soft tissue problems, we establish that their gluts either dont work at all, or one side works more strongly than the other. This creates an imbalance leading to pain and dysfunction, and in readyness for a major training plan its essential to ensure we are firing on all cylinders :) An uncorrected issue such as this can lead to total breakdown as training ramps up. I have an issue with my left side - its far weaker than my right, with the left glut output being only 30% of the right (when I first started training). It causes back pain and left shoulder pain. So, here I am working hard to train my left side whilst Nick shouts left cheek, left cheek! at me... My strength sessions underpin my training plan, weve already been working for three months to form a solid base in this way :) Now Im off for a mile in the pool.
