Left first flight this AM to Minneapolosis VA and participated in the study using Meg technology.....was there from about 10AM to 3pm consent process, survey questionnaires the meg procedure it self takes about 18 minutes and then a blood drawn to look at 2 genes that may show why some got ill and others didnt in same area. They are able to differenate PTSD, TBI and GWI damage in different areas of the brain! Links to their material I posted before from the RAC minutes. AND THEY have had 265 participate! You get a short pscy and neuro exam. These people know what is wrong! The GWV with GWI affects the part of brain involved with immune function. They were dynamite group and apologized for how wrongly we have been treated. They us the registry exams as one step to accept vets! They have done tremendous reaching out to minnesota, wisconsin, dakotas, iowa! Also got to visit again with Ronald Bach(hypercoagulation) got a copy of his last paper. Also they both are working on treatment trial proposals! Contact Kari Johnson at 612-467-1460. It is research so until published we will not get the data but that is routine! Kari can do the pre interview to be sure you meet criteria for the study. Also they have the only MEG machine in whole VA system and have had largest sample of 265 gulf war vets not counting the TBI or PTSD groups. There are only maybe 20 MEG machines in the US re civilian hospital...normally done for brain mapping for neurology and surgery in neuro cases. Found out the UNiv of CO has sister machine so potential to try and get colloborative universities CO and university of Minnesota. Principal Investigat Apostolos Georgopoulos MD PHD and his second is Dr Brian Engdahl had good sit down with them after I finished....got a delay on flight home so it was a lng Day Left Denver 7AM take off and return home about 2030 tonight!
