Left us on this day (Sept. 22) in 1980: in-demand session - TopicsExpress

Left us on this day (Sept. 22) in 1980: in-demand session guitarist Jimmy Bryant (lung cancer, age 55); he played on numerous country & jazz recordings during the ’50s & ’60s, most notably those by Tennessee Ernie Ford; he was equally adept at both musical genres, & was often referred to as the fastest guitarist in the country; during the ’50s, Jimmy partnered with steel guitar great Speedy West to record for Capitol Records; during the 60s he shifted into music production; Waylon Jennings made a hit of his song Only Daddy Thatll Walk the Line; Jimmy can also be heard playing fiddle on The Monkees Sweet Young Thing; he & Speedy West recorded a reunion album in 1975…(this clip - pretty amazing dual guitar work!)
