Legendary television announcer Don Pardo died Monday evening, an NBC spokesperson has confirmed to ABC News. He was 96. Pardo is strongly associated with NBC, and in particular its sketch-comedy program Saturday Night Live. He served as the announcer for SNL for virtually its entire run, beginning with its premiere season in 1975. Pardo did not participate in the shows seventh season. Lorne Michaels, the creator of SNL, tells The New York Times that the show will air a tribute to Pardo next season. He said of Pardos booming SNL intro, Whatever montage we did to open the show, whatever pictures we used it didn’t really come alive till you heard him say it. nytimes/2014/08/19/nyregion/don-pardo-the-voice-of-saturday-night-live-dies-at-96.html
