That will be a real science fact in 2019, when Lego figurines will outnumber humans on Earth, according to a study by a helpful graphic from the web comic Xkcd. In 2006, there were 4 billion Lego figures in existence (one billion of which we’ve personally stepped on), and that number will double in 2019. Lego figurines first came into existence in 1978 and were designed to have no discernible gender or age, so those characteristics could be decided by the children playing with them. Years later, you can buy a Lego version of notable figures, including Harry Potter and Steven Spielberg. Wed like to think Lego people will be merciful rulers after they take over the world. But walking around the house barefoot will probably be a thing of the past. [
