Sad but true... I listed some clothes of my daughters on - TopicsExpress

Sad but true... I listed some clothes of my daughters on Craigslist that she didnt want.. 17 Areopostle shirts for 25.00. Lady replies and wants the clothes for her TWO 8 year old daughters. She tells me this terrible story that her husband was robbed and shot 6 times in broad day light LAST YEAR. She said he was an iron worker for 20 years and bought home 1000.00 a week but can no longer work so she has struggled this last year with only one income. So I told her that I will give her the clothes plus I had about another 30 shirts, pjs, winter coats etc.. to help her out. Im not sure why my curiosity got the best of me that I decided to search her phone number, found her name, then searched her name with a man shot 6 times All the bits and pieces she told me... they were true, BUT.. it happened 7 years ago, not last year, allegedly over a drug robbery. He is 33 so he had not been an iron worker for 20 years, in fact he was a part time carpenter that had been laid off, and she doesnt have two 8 year olds.. One is 8, one is 16. Even tho I found all this .. I will still give her everything because obviously If she felt compelled to lie about these things she needs these clothes more than my daughter needed the 25.00. But its a shame that people blame their bad fortune or luck on everything other than the fact that their dishonesty digs them deeper holes. I would have given her the items had she just mentioned she was having a hard time.. she could have left out the lies. Lesson learned not to research if people are telling the truth.. it was none of my business to look in to BUT.. I was considering helping more had the story been true.. so I guess it works out either way.. she will still get what she wanted for free and I will save myself the anxiety of trying to figure out how to help another family.
