Lehighton Area board approves plans to build a new elementary facility. A survey was sent out and the response was someting like 490 said no and 11 yes. Dont quote me on numbers. Local paper has article today that board approves to move forward with project. Here is a sampling of comments with names removed. What about all the older people in lehighton, who are on fixed income, dont have kids in school, that are now stuck forking out more money in taxes. PURE INSANITY!!! 57.5 Million....they talk about this like its just a little pocket change!!! Dont worry xxxxx and yyyy will move out of state before the project is complete and wont suffer the burden of paying the taxes like the rest of us...the same way zzzzz split when she moved forward with the high school....that is ONLY 20 years old requiring 9 million in renovations!!! What a JOKE!! You all need to start a petition your the one paying taxes just like the panther valley school district outsourcing the janitorial positions to a company from New Jersey. Start another petition asking for the resignations of the board members who voted in favor for this project. Ill be remembering who voted which way come election time. I have a child in east penn..kindergarten....by the end of the school year she was reading books...shes 6...she had 10 kids in her class and every student got the specialized help they needed...they worked at the pace of the children...what happens when you consolidate 4 elementary schools?? 25-30 kids per class...ridiculous....I see alot of kids struggling and falling behind Wth! This is getting out of hand! People are already struggling with trying to make ends meet. This is going to drive residents away from the area. A new school is NOT going to make the kids smarter! Unbelievable! this is nuts. with people paying the taxes for this crap how can people pay for anything else. Aj Everett I agree with you on the older people with the fixed income . I think who ever voted for all of this is the ones that should pay for it NOT every one else.
