Lemme guess based upon the few responses Ive read.....to me, it sounds like the author of this article is none other than Debbie Nichol. Well Debbie, I live in NB, Im a Veterinary Technician (20 years) and I own my own boarding/Daycare and Grooming facility, and I can tell you that by banning a particular breed is not going to accomplish anything. All dogs CAN and WILL bite if given the right circumstances and opportunity. I know, because Ive been bitten by everything from a chihuahua, maltese, shih tzu, cocker spaniel to large dogs such as golden retriever, Shepherds and yes...even pit bulls. Just a few weeks ago I almost had my face taken off by a LAB in for a nail trim! Its time to take responsibility not ban a breed. Parents need to be responsible for their children just as pet owners need to be responsible for their dogs. No dog should be TRUSTED around a child without close supervision, NO DOG!!! Children while playing, during periods of excitement, pain, anger and frustration screech out in high pitched voices that to a lot of dog breeds is irritating and can contribute to a prey like drive in them to destroy the prey, hence children are more likely to be mauled as opposed to just simply bitten by dogs.
