Lent has started! I know Baptist do not usually worry about Lent. But, the truth is, I believe we should focus on it. Fasting, prayer, are both mandated in the bible for all of us to do. When we received the New Covenant, Jesus never said not to fast. As a matter of fact He tells us how to fast. He tells us not to advertise that we are fasting, we are to wash our faces, and fast in secret. (Matthew 6:16-18). The whole purpose is to depend on God. Somewhere along the way we have forgotten that we depend on Him. WE HAVE TO STOP THAT. Look how many time Israel forgot about God, and how many times He reminded them. We are given 2 commands, to love God with all our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls - and to love our neighbor. It is time we realize we need to love and depend on Him in ALL things, not just when its convenient. Shine the light of Christ in all you do. Have a great day! Bro. Jeff
