Leonardo DiCaprio should have won Best Supporting Actor for Whats Eating Gilbert Grape. Its one of my favorite movies and I didnt see it for the first time until years after it came out. I didnt even know Leonardo DiCaprio was in the movie while I was watching it. I remember wondering all through the movie how the heck did they get the autistic kid to remember all his lines. Compare DiCaprios performance to Hoffmans Rainman and you will see how he was robbed just because the performance was early in his career. Its like Sean Penn in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. When you take into account Penns entire body of work up to now, his portrayal of a stonner surfer guy was phenomenal. People at the time had no idea he was acting.
