Les Diaboliques Saw this brilliant film last night, thanks to my husband who collects classic films. Its a 1955 re-mastered suspense thriller which apparently inspired Alfred Hitchcock and is also one of Mark Gantiss favourite films (he of Sherlock fame). Its French and subtitled (another one!) which is fine because, like Amour I didnt want to take my eyes off the screen. The Guardian describes it as an icily brilliant suspense thriller about a bathroom murder - two women, one the spurned wife, the other the mistress of the Headmaster of a boys school. The wwife and mistress actually get on well and set out to murder the man, who is a real bastard (excuse me). Or do they? Its a wonderful, suspenseful thriller which keeps you guessing, and getting it wrong.
