Lesson 49 Gods Voice speaks to me through all the day ACIM And the Sheep shall follow Him: for they know His Voice. John 10:4 That voice is the silence. It is the silence of the Heart that is so luminous words instantly dissolve, thoughts dissolves, whole Universes come and go from this same source.The circle of Gods infinite Love, has its centre every where a heart is found. Of course this is not the physical heart. We are the image and likeness of God, blazing throughout all eternity. Gods voice is not words, or thoughts. The activity of words and speech is separation, fragmentation, mere chemical reactions going off in the brain, a chain reaction. When Gods voice is heard, and not mans, the brain gives way to heart and is neither personal nor impersonal. The moment thought as words or images are imposed on the brain it malfunctions, it become blind, deaf and stupid.So Saint Paul said we communicate spiritual things by spiritual means. The Brain is the Tree of knowledge, the Heart the centre of consciousness, is the Tree of Life. Death grows on one, life on the other. Words are a material process, you cannot speak without a chemical reaction to trigger those words. Another chemical reaction is required for the sound to leave your mouth.That is fact, even if it sounds negative. Words have built up a huge structure, technologically, psychologically and physiologically. Thought is experience and is stored up chemically in the synapses of the brain tissue. We call it memory, but it is a chemical storehouse. So the whole structure of religion and philosophy is still based on what is material, albeit more hidden yet the same as for science, culture and all learning. You cannot explore the unknown, you do not ask questions that have no answers. We never use all our senses to examine issues in our life, we only use one or a few,so we never perceive all the Truth. Even if we did perceive with all our senses, they themselves are extremely limited. Thought permeates everything we do. Better to know nothing. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. Gal.6:3 Gods voice also imply the art of listening. Art is a precise thing, everything has an order and place. You must see the voice from a place of silence. You must have a blank canvas, for Gods Voice to trace its words on. A canvas muddied by your thoughts will distort Gods voice. Gods voice is like the most precious and exuberant perfume/incense, it so intoxicates the senses, they fall down in silence before it.The Heart is the incense holder pulsating with compassion that is endless love. We sheep hear no other voice. The heart is the act of knowing what we are, in the act of realizing what we are not...that is very deep understanding, the heart is very deep and totally silent, way below the surface of the intellect.
