Lessons/advice learned from yesterdays river rafting fiasco: #1. Dont leave the keys for the truck at the second bridge back in the drop off truck at the first bridge. #2. Dont just assume it will probably take about an hour to float from one bridge to the next bridge, which leads to the next lesson... #3. If a rafting trip will take over three hours dont start at 7pm. #4. Bring your sandals, just in case you eventually realize that bridge is further than you think and you have to float to shore and then walk through the woods barefoot to go look for a road...to hopefully find a farm with people who will drive all of you to your truck. #5. Bring paddles. #6. Dont do this in bear country. #7. Spend next four weeks encouraging your kids not to retell the story in their What I did this summer essay.
