“Let Him Work!” “for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure” (Php 2:13). Sometimes, life can be one disappointing situation after another. Someone says God has a plan for your life but like a mouse in a maze, you encounter one dead end after another without arriving at the cherished payday you desire. Your efforts to talk to others sound a lot like whining – even to you. Still, you are frustrated and you want to break free of the unfulfilled life you have been living to experience the greater “something” you know is out there somewhere. The Apostle Paul wrote four powerful things in the above passage: 1) God is at work in you 2) He is working on your desires 3)He is working to enable you 4) the conclusion of His work is to result in what pleases Him. The problem is, what pleases God and what will ultimately fulfill us does not happen or happen fast enough because we won’t let Him work. We don’t always see the end of the work so we don’t desire it. Therefore God works on our desires. Even when we desire to do what pleases Him, we can’t always do it. Therefore, He works on our ability. If we would just let God work, He will give us both the desire and ability to do what pleases Him. It is there that true peace and fulfillment is found! So, let Him work! Lord, help us to get out of your way and let you work on us and through us. Give us the patience to sit still while you work so the process is not prolonged. Father, you love us and have our best interest at heart, help us to trust this even in the waiting rooms of life. We pray in the faithful name of Jesus, amen.
