Let Them Say! The Feast of Tabernacles was a great feast in the Jewish year and Jesus could not afford to miss it. It was a feast celebrating the completion of harvest and commemorating Gods goodness to the people during the desert wanderings. Jesus attended the feast not publicly but in secret. and the conspirators were watching for him and asking, Where is that man? John says there was widespread whispering about him. Some said he is a good man, others said he was a deceiver of people(John 9:10-13). My friend I have learned two things from the above: If Jesus can go to some occasions secretly because he fears death, then we too should often avoid public attention that may jeopardize our endeavors. Jesus demonstrates by this action that we should allow things to happen at the right time. He knew that the enemy would eventually get to him, but he had to avoid them until the right time. Secondly, no matter what you do, there must be divided opinion. Trust in God and do the right anyway! I saw a bike man who being sensitive to this human tendency wrote on his bike: Let them say! In their wisdom my people say no matter how often the animals eat up your crops, do not abandon your garden to them. Paul says that whatever work you are engaged in work heartily as serving the Lord and not men. Have a blessed weekend!
