Let, a foreign worker from the Philippines who faces deportation, was detained last week along with her 3 year old daughter. Following their temporary release on Monday from Haifa’s dentition center, Let’s attorney filed a claim to the Ministry of the Interior, requesting to stall the deportation. Let’s sad story began six months ago, with the expiration of her visa in Israel. Last week, she has been arrested for questioning by the authorities and following her refusal to fly back to her homeland, both her and her child were immediately detained. Her Attorney Efraim Damari claims serious errors were made by the authorities in Let’s case: “This is unacceptable and unforgivable,” he said. “Her daughter is also a child of an Israeli father with Israeli citizenship. Therefore, she is entitled to have rights like any other Israeli according to the law.” According to the mother, due to the father’s denial of his child’s existence, Israel refuses to recognize her and her daughter’s rights to continue their life here.
