Let he who is without sin cast the first stone Have you led a perfect life? I certainly havent. Ive done bad things, and people have done bad things to me. Ive also done good things, and Ive had good things done for me. I dont know anyone who is proud of every choice theyve made. Some choices are made with honest intentions, others are made maliciously. Choices are made based on love, jealousy, greed, charity, empathy, indifference, happiness, sadness, loyalty, loneliness, and the whole spectrum of human emotions. And we all have ideas- rational and irrational, based on our previous experiences, that contribute to our actions. Some people suffer from mental illnesses ranging from mild depression to debilitating delusions. Its not our fault. We spend thousands of dollars on medication, and hundreds of hours in therapy in the hope that we can make the best possible choices and decisions. None of this makes a person good or bad. You dont get points for every good deed and demerits for every mistake. What defines us is what we learn from our decisions. Can we make a better choice the next time? I try to. Sometimes I screw up. But I try. I hope thats enough, because Ill never be perfect.
