Let me ask you this. If you lay hands on the sick, and the Holy - TopicsExpress

Let me ask you this. If you lay hands on the sick, and the Holy Spirit comes behind you, and heals the sick, and then, who performs the signs following? God performs the sign which follows the laying on of the hands. Who is following who? You arent following God; God is following you. So when the minister says, “We dont have a set pattern to follow tonight, we are just going to follow the Spirit,” this statement would be unscriptural, because you dont follow the Spirit, He follows you. What they are really doing is trying to put all the blame on God, by saying, “If nothing happens tonight, it is Gods fault.” Isnt that what it comes down to? Everything we do, we try to cover our back, so we dont look stupid, and eventually we stop trying, because we look stupid enough, and we dont want to try anymore. The Greek word for the Holy Spirit which Jesus gave us for is parakletos (par-ak-lay-tos). The definition is one called alongside to help. Lets say the pastor heard I was an electrician, and he asks me to rewire the building, while I am available. If I am a professional, I will have a helper with me. While I walk through assessing the job, I will tell [my helper] what I will need for the job, and if he is a good helper, he will write it down, and pick up the things I miss. When I leave for lunch, I tell him, “When I get back, I want all these things here so we can get started.” When I return from lunch, if he is a good helper, everything I asked for will be available, and when I begin the job, I wont have to ask him for anything, because he will know what I need [and have it there already]. When the job is finished, he will get paid, after I get paid, because I did the job. He is my helper, so I dont tell him to do the job, and I will help him. First off, it would be illegal for him to do the job, because he is not a certified electrician. It is the same with the Holy Spirit. He is our helper. It is our job, not his. We want Him to do it so we dont get any of the blame. You can only help, if someone is doing. People say, “Im waiting on God.” No youre not. He is waiting on you. “I want God to have His way.” You put it off on to Him, so you arent to blame. If we are going to do it the Jesus way, then we are going to do what He said to do, and lay hands on the sick.
