Let me be the first (as I have not seen any other posts as of yet) to bring to the table the recent resignation of Calvary Chapel lead Pastor Bob Coy. I do not know the reasons that actually caused him to step down as leader, all I know is what I have read. With that being said... being a Pastor is a SERIOUS job. A SERIOUS calling. But lets keep in mind... these individuals are still human, still born of the flesh, still facing the temptations that all of us face daily- if not more so. These individuals need so much intercessory prayer so they are able to stay strong, stay in the word, and continue to lead in and up to the standards that they are called, that actually all of us are called... to be like Christ... but clergy seem to end up under a microscope much more intense than you or I. Whatever the moral failing that caused Pastor Bob Coy to step down... 1) I applaud him for doing so. I commend him for taking himself out of a leadership role when he is not walking the walk. (Read the story of Moses and Aaron). 2) I shall not cast judgment or cast stones against him or his family. Matthew 7:1-2 1“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. 2For you will be treated as you treat others.a The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. As flabbergasted and stunned as I was to hear of his resignation... I was also saddened that I would not hear his teachings any longer. He was a powerful voice sharing the Word of God and I enjoyed learning from his sermons which were always based and backed up by the actual word of God. As easy as it is to cast a stone... why not we all come together and lift him and his family up in prayer for the inner healing that they need and deserve. Our Pastors, deacons, ushers...and so on... are human, just as you and I. That does not mean that I condone any such behavior unfitting for that role, but it means that they too serve the same forgiving God, loving God that you and I serve. Oh, and they put their pants on one leg at a time too! My prayers go out to Pastor Bob Coy, his family, and his church and ministries.
