Let me preface this by saying I am NOT a Floyd Mayweather defense - TopicsExpress

Let me preface this by saying I am NOT a Floyd Mayweather defense attorney. This is not about defending him. Its about defending a race, a culture, a people. This whole thing was hilarious to me initially, but then I started thinking. Heres why it bothers me...When is the last time you saw Tom Brady and Justin Timberlake beefing, going out of their way to publicly humiliate one another? When is the last time you saw ANY white celebrity millionaires PUBLICLY degrading and putting each other down. Its sad to say, but Ferguson is PROOF that quiet racism is rampant in our country. Thats right, racism hasnt gone anywhere. Its just quiet. Black folks only want to do something about it (protest) when it gets loud or when it hits close to home. Example...how many Ferguson citizens came running when it was Trayvon Martin laying on the ground down in Florida? Im willing to bet it was much less than numbers we are seeing currently in Ferguson. On the flip side, how many Sanford residents are in Ferguson protesting right now? The lack of UNITY is causing our demise and we dont even realize it. Rather we like it or not fellas we STILL are looked at as ignorant animals by a percentage of white America....and well over 50% of the blame falls ON US. Why? Because perception is REALITY. It doesnt help our image at all when we post videos of young black men and women fighting and/or committing acts of violence in the street. We are already thought of as animals and those type of videos only support their racist views and way of thinking. Im guilty of watching and commenting, but maybe we should post videos of black people doing positive things instead. Its imperative that we at least attempt to change our image for the better..... (shifting gears) Muhammad Ali was not only a boxing champion, he along with other black athletes, music artists, and black celebrities were HEROES to the black community. Although he received some backlash for his name-change, he was supported by most blacks, and certainly not publicly ridiculed for his weaknesses. Why? Because there was sense of UNITY that has somehow escaped us. They were proud of him. He was their guy. With that being said, if we are already viewed as dumb and ignorant animals, why ridicule and attempt to humiliate a black man who has found a way to make millions of American dollars LEGALLY!!! None of you are posting memes about the drug dealer or dope head that cant read. So why try to pull a man down of YOUR OWN RACE who has found a way to make millions in spite racism and in spite of his poor reading level? We should be saying, Wow. Its amazing that Floyd was able to overcome this and STILL be a success in country where the school systems and testing are designed for minorities to fail...A country that is intricately designed for people like Floyd Mayweather to FAIL. But somehow he beat the odds. Much respect Floyd. Instead, when one of our own (50) jabs at his weakness, we come running like flies to crap, ready to join in. Why didnt we have this many posts when Floyd was number 1 on Forbes list of highest paid athletes in the WORLD? We minimize our achievements and positivity, and magnify downfalls and negativity. We are doing it this OURSELVES. We are putting the figurative noose in the hands of racist, AND IT OUGHT NOT BE! Im well aware that this is a sports group. Im also well aware that this group is comprised of mostly young black men who need their thinking CHALLENGED. And that is the sole purpose of these words. Im not telling you to stop the memes, but I am asking you to CONSIDER the message you are putting out there...not about Floyd, but OUR PEOPLE.....Had to get this off my chest.
